Somatic Bodywork

This work is especially supportive for mobility restrictions, chronic pain, anxiety/depression, C-PTSD, dissociation, and increasing body awareness.

Somatic bodywork connects the body with the mind. By combining the proprioceptive, (awareness of where our body is in space) with the interoceptive, (awareness of our internal sensory experience), we can strengthen our connection with ourselves and with life, becoming present and empowered to choose, in the safety of this Here, Now moment. 

Every session is individualized, collaborative, and trauma-informed. You are in control of the session; you and your body set the pace. Your practitioner follows your lead and listens deeply to the tissues and biofield of your body throughout the session; pressure, movement, positioning, and the areas we work with are all adjusted according to your comfort and needs.

In a Somatic Bodywork session, you can expect gentle holds, subtle movement, myofascial work, and an interactive experience of sharing; sensation, intentional awareness, and the breath (called Presencing). This is where we can create lasting change in the body, we offer gentle, mindful touch, integrated with the breath, while working with areas of tension-- not by "fixing", but by bringing loving awareness, language and verbal description, to consciously meet a previously unconscious pain loop in the body that resulted from a trauma that may have taken place decades prior.
